Congress pushing Sikhs into warfare situation by preparing one-sided Commission report: Grewal President SSF
Ferozepur August 22, 2018: The sacrilege incidents of Sri Guru Granth Sahib have deeply hurt the sentiments of Sikhs and the Congress is pushing into warfare situation by preparing a one-sided Commission report and by attaching the name of Panthak organizations and political parties.
After realizing the reality of recording of the statement made by Himmat Singh – the prime witness No.245 in the case – under coercion of Congress Ministers before the Congress-appointed Ranjit Singh Commission, it has become crystal clear that the Commission report is being tabled by the Congress to bring their political opponents in the court of law.
These views were expressed by Bhai Gurcharan Singh Grewal, President, Sikh Students Federation – SSF and Member, Shiromani Committee in a press meet at Press Club Ferozepur after holding the workers meeting.
Added here, with Punjab Government getting ready to table the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission report in the Assembly session that begins on August 24, the panel that probed Bargari desecration and Behbal Kalan police firing case suffered a major embarrassment as a key witness retracted from his statement saying that he was coerced by Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa to sign a statement before Justice Ranjit Singh. However, the claims made by Himmat Singh were rubbished. Himmat Singh is also the younger brother of Giani Gurmukh Sigh former acting Jathedar of Takht Sri Dadama Sahib Talwandi Sabo and head Granthi of Akal Takht removed from both the posts by SGPC in April 2017.
However, the retraction is important as Himmat Singh was the only witness who told the Commission that pardon to the Dera head was done at the behest of Badals and manner in which the Parkash Singh Badal and his son Sukhbir Badal had organized the grant of pardon to the head of Dra Sacha Sauda which as per him had led to initiation of c=incidents of sacrilege of the religious grants in the state.
Bhai Grewal said that it is the wish of every Sikh that the accused in the disrespect cases be gives strict punishment whosoever may be. But the investigation should be impartial and out of the political influence.
The disclosure made by Himmat Singh has made it clear that the Ranjit Singh Commission is fully working to defame the leadership of the Akali Dal under a special agenda, he added.
It looks that while the Commission constituted by the government challenges the supreme authority of the Sikhs – Sri Akal Takht Sahib, it is also creating a situation of conflict between the feelings of the Sikhs which is matter of serious concern for the Panth and Punjab as well, said Grewal.
Grewal and his associates appealed to the entire Sikh community to refrain themselves from anti-Sikh policies of the Congress so that Sikh power is not weakened.
On this occasion, Grewal was accompanied with Paramjit Singh Dharam Singh Wala, Dilbagh Singh Virk, Paramjit Singh Kalsi, Gurbaksh Singh Sekhon, Gurkirtan Singh Jalalabad, Gurpreet Singh Deep Singh Wala, Manpreet Singh Khalsa, Dharminder Singh Muktsar Sahib, Gurjant Singh, Gurjeet Singh and Manjeet Singh Guru Har Sahai and others were present.
