Chemists to observe Bandh on July 30
Ferozepur, July 24, 2018: On one days’ call for bandh already given by Punjab Chemist Association, regarding their opposition to the government crackdown against chemists in the state and against the rampant sale on drugs online, despite unnecessary tighten up on chemists by the police, all the chemists of state will observe bandh on July 30.
However, the chemists in the state will also hold protests from July 25 onwards. In this context, there will also be a Candle March on July 26 in Ferozepur, said Chaman Lal Kakkar, Chairman and Subodh Kakkar, Vice Chairman, District Chemists Association, Ferozepur. . On July 27, all chemist shops will remain open after 11 am. On July 28, they will hold rallies at important places in districts from 10 am to 12 noon, they added.
Rajiv Ahuja, President Makhu Chemists Association said, the chemists in the state will make the bandh successful by keeping shutters down on July 30. In the event of any harassment by the police, the Chemists Association will fight strongly.
He further said, there is a misuse of medicines by allowing the online purchase of medicines by purchasing the habit-forming drugs illegally for which the chemists are being blamed. Making an appeal to the government, he said, the government should immediately stop the online sale of medicines so that chemists should do their business sincerely and honestly.
The chemists will hold a total bandh across the state. They will also demand action against the illegal sale of medicines through online e-pharmacies, added Rajiv Ahuja.
