Capt Amrinder Singh gets warm welcome during offshore visit at Los Angeles
Ferozepur, April 20, 2016: Capt Amrinder Singh, PPCC Chief on his 20 days’ official visit to US and Canada, was given a warm welcome at Los Angeles, by Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, MLA Guruharsahai, who is already camping there, with a view to persuade the Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) ahead of the 2017 Assembly elections.
Capt Amarinder Singh is scheduled to visit Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco in the US and Toronto and Vancouver in Canada.
As reports appeared in the medial, Punjab Congress President Capt Amrinder Singh’s overseas trip to woo the diaspora ahead of coming elections, has triggered a battle of one-upmanship in the Congress camp, with a number of leaders making a beeline to be with the party chief there.
As per the information, few leaders including Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, MLA from Guruharsahai, Kewal Dhillon MLA Barnala, Daljit Sahota, Presdient India Ovefseas Congress and others – who are already there in Los Angeles to make the visit a grand success – will be joining during the foreign trip of Capt Amarinder Singh. However, Capt’s wife Preneet Kaur is staying back and will be visiting a few constituencies in his absence.
In an communiqué to this correspondent, on reaching at Los Angeles, Capt was apprised about the problems being faced by the NRIs and assured to sort out the same on coming into power.
Capt Amarinder has gone abroad for garnering the support of NRIs on the foreign lands, who form a very important part of Punjab’s political scenario and whose views on various issues carry weight besides to clear their doubts by telling them as to how the Congress has to offer and see their support for a credible anti-Akali-BJP alternative in Punjab.
