BSNL to extend range to border areas, 23 new towers to be installed
Ferozepur, July 11, 2024: The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced plans to install 23 new towers in border areas to enhance signal coverage and provide better facilities in rural regions. This initiative aims to benefit several villages along the Pakistan border that have been struggling with phone signal issues for a long time.
General Manager Kamaldeep Singh revealed that BSNL, in collaboration with security agencies, has identified 32 locations where these new towers will be installed. “The department has sent a proposal to the union defence ministry for permission, and once approved, the towers will be installed soon,” said GM Kamaldeep.
He further explained that, previously, due to security reasons, the signal range of BSNL towers was limited to 500 meters in areas with barbed wire fencing, which caused difficulties for villagers. “However, with policy changes over the past six months, the range will now be extended to border areas,” he added.
