BSF’s enhanced vigil thwarts attempt of smuggling, 109 kg herion recovered during 2017
Ferozepur, June 26. 2017 : The enhanced vigil of BSF troops has once again thwarted the attemplt of smugglers/anti-national elements to smuggle contraband items into India.
During the year 2017, BSF has effected 109.94 kgs heroin including the latest seizure of 6 Kgs besides other items.
Among the other items was opium 1.525 kgs, weapons 15 nos., magazines 24 nos. ammunition 542 rounds, apprehended Indian border crosser 30, Bangladesh national apprehended 4, Pak National apprehended 12, Pak intruder interdicted 3 and recovery of 12 Nos. Pak SIMs.
Stating about the latest seizure on June 25, 2017, BSF personnel, STF Ludhiana and CI Ferozepur successfully seized 6 packets of contraband suspected to be heroin and 1 empty iron bar during a join operation carried out in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post D T Mal – Ex Adhoc P-V Bn BSF Sector Ferozepur.
Based on specific information provided by Special Task Force – STF, Ludhiana and CI Ferozepur on 25th June 2017, a special joint search operation was launched ahead of Border Security Fence in area of responsibility of BOP Dona Telu Mal Ex-Adhoc Bn BSF Ferozepur. During search at about 4.50, 5 packets of contraband suspected to be heroin weighing 5 kgs recovered which were wrapped in white polytheje and buried under soil near Bambi (Tube Well) in the field. Similarly, at about 8.15, one packet of contraband suspected to be heroin weighing 1 kg along with one empty iron bar of 3 feet was also recovered in the same area, said DIG BSF.
