BSF jawan commits suicide in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, March 27, 2017: A Border Security Force soldier guarding a forward post under 105 Bt at Khai Mehal Singh Wala committed suicide by hanging himself today at midnight around 2 am.
As per the information of SHO Mamdot Bhola Singh, a BSF jawan identified as Parsanna Kumr was on duty from 8 pm to 11 pm. After about three hours, he committed suicide by hanging himself from neck.
He further said the BSF jawan was permanent resident of Karnatka.
Proceedings under section 174 have been initiated by the police, he added.
Section 174 in The Code Of Criminal Procedure, 1973 states that when the officer in charge of a police station or some other police officer specially empowered by the State Government in that behalf receives information that a person has committed suicide, or has been killed by another or by an animal or by machinery or by an accident, or has died under circumstances raising a reasonable suspicion that some other person has committed an offence, he shall immediately give intimation thereof to the nearest Executive Magistrate empowered to hold inquests, and, unless otherwise directed by any rule prescribed by the State Government, or by any general or special order of the District or Sub- divisional Magistrate, shall proceed to the place where the body
The BSF authorities have however, informed at his home place besides making arrangements to send his body to his home town after conducting the postportem and other formalities for his last rites. However, the cause of taking this extreme step could not be known.
