BJP ticket contenders still wait to make election like position in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, December 27, 2016: When Election Commission of India is yet to announce the poll dates in Punjab and promulgate the Mode of Code of Conduct and Bhartiya Janata Party yet to announce its candidates – despite fielding of candidates by other political parties – Congress and Aam Aadmi Party – there is no election like position in Ferozepur of any political party so far.
In the recent past Bhagwan Mann and Sanjay Singh of Aam Aadmi Party have visited Ferozepur in support of its candidate – Narinder Singh Sandha. Since both these leaders are good orator, the mood of residents of Ferozepur is little bit in favour of change of the political party in the coming Assembly elections.
The Congress party has already announced its candidate as sitting MLA Parminder Singh Pinky, who has been instrumental in arranging number of projects despite being in the opposition. He too has not so far initiated his election campaign but seen moving in and around the city to meet the people to establish his presence in the constituency.
However, the locals are surprised over the BJP strategy for not announcing its candidate for Ferozepur seat.
In Ferozepur City constituency, Congress nominee won the seat from BJP’s Sukhpal Singh Nannu.
Sources said, the BJP high command could not select the candidate despite number of claimants for the ticket for Ferozepur. According to ‘flying birds’ information, the open claimant is Sukhpal Singh Nannu, former CPS but Kamal Sharma former BJP President and presently National Executive Member BJP and belongs to Ferozepur, is yet to open his cards so far. However, on frequently asking over his candidature, Kamal Sharma had said with a mischievous smile, ‘he will abide by the decision of the party.
It is pertinent to mention that Kamal Sharma too had been politically active and claimed to be instrumental in fetching several development projects for his home town.
In the meantime, the differences between two probable candidates are an open secret.
Other names running the BJP circle include Gurparvej Singh Sandha alias Shalla, former State President of BJP Yuva Morcha. He is staking claim being a young face and apparently neutral and is likely to be accepted by Kamal and Nannu. With these arrangements on sincerity and honesty during election campaigns could also change the equations of vote bank in favour of BJP.
Whatever may be the outcome of the election, but the election wave is missing so far in Ferozepur but could only be seen with the announcement of BJP’s candidate which will make the contest triangular and interesting as well.
