Bharat Vikas Parishad organizes Tulsi Vitran Camp, distributed 1,800 plants at 15 Mandir
Ferozepur, August 31, 2022: BHARAT VIKAS PARISHAD (BVP) FIROZPUR CITY organized 15th Free Tulsi Vitran Canp on at Nanu Bhagat Mandir, Khai Wala Addha, Firozpur City with the blessings of Bapu Jatinder Mehra, President, Raman Kumar Sharma, who presided over the event.
Added here, Holy basil, (Ocimum tenuiflorum), also called tulsi or tulasi, flowering plant of the mint family (Lamiaceae) grown for its aromatic leaves. Holy basil is native to the Indian subcontinent and grows throughout Southeast Asia. It is also known as Holy Basil in English and Tulasi in Sanskrit. Other names used for the Tulsi are Manjari, Krishna Tulsi, Trittavu, Tulshi and Thulsi. Tulsi has got the great medicinal value. Many people wears the Tulsi beads, which is said to have certain physical and medicinal properties. Its wood is considered as more powerful than any other gem that helps in protecting one from the negative influences. One can also buy several handicraft jewellery items made of Tulsi wood. Tulsi is the sacred plant dearer to the Lord Vishnu. Tulsi symbolises purity. It is considered as the holy plant in the Indian Subcontinent.
Hindus perform special Tulsi puja in the Kartik month which starts after Sharad Poornima. It is the time of the Tulsi vivah (marriage). On this day Tulsi is decorated and coloured as a bride.Even today people in India maintain a potted Tulsi plant. The womens water the plant, light up the diya near it and worships it daily. The stems, leaves, seeds and even the soil is considered as holy. According to the ancient texts Tulsi is glorified as the one who helps in bringing people closer to the divine.
The programme was celebrated to mobilize the ambitious action addressing climate change and to
raise awareness about the vulnerability of ozone depletion. Further, it will stress on importance of
growing trees to bring down carbon dioxide emissions and thereby prevent depletion of the ozone layer.

This Tulsi Camp is sponsored by Sh. Guranditta Mal and Sh. Ram Krishan Channa residents of Model Town in memory of their mother Late Smt. Rashem Devi ji and around 100 Tulsi Plants in Pots distributed in this camp.
This camp is last camp but not the least beginning from 19th August coincide with the beginning of SAWAN KA MAHINA, tulsi have immense religious and medical qualities and explained how to take care and upkeep the plant, said Raman Kumar Sharma.
The BVP is getting appreciation from all sections of life, for their efforts towards enviromental onscious and environmental awareness with such events with great success.
Vinod Goyal, Secretary, apprised the projects of Bharat Vikas Parishad for social and other cultural activities of the BVP based on five principles. So far total during this session, 1800 tulsi plants in pots, exceeds well the target planned, distributed in 15 mandirs in different area of Ferozepur City. All the camps are sponsored by our worthy members on different family occasions.
