Banned items recovered from two packets thrown inside jail
Ferozepur, December 30, 2021: Certain banned items – mobiles with battery, data cables, chargers and zarda sachets – were recovered from the two packets thrown inside the jail by some unidentified person.
Around 300 mobiles have been recovered during the current year during various search operations posing a security threat of the jail. Throwing of packets from outside the jail over the walls is another challenge for the jail authorities. On a certain occasion, even jail officials were found involved in the common route of delivery of desired objects to inmates.
Giving this information, Kailash, Assistant Superintendent Jail informed that Tower Sentry informed on December 28 around 5 pm that some unidentified person has thrown two packets inside the jail. On opening the same, some banned items – two mobiles with battery but without SIM cards, two data cables, two chargers cable, 6 sachets of ‘zarda’ and 190 gm lose ‘zarda’.
A case under Sections 52-A/42, Prisons Act has been registered and further investigations are on with Hav Gurvinder Singh, IO.
