14 districts with 311 entries participated in the contest

Ferozepur, January 9, 2016 :  In Swachh Vidyalya Swachh Bharat Contest, Dr.Daljeet Singh Cheema, Education Minister awarded First, Second and Third prizes to the winning schools of Punjab – Patiala, Khudi Kalan of Barnala, GHS Ludhiana in a function organized at Mohali on Jan. 6.

American India Foundation – an NGO, working with Govt. of Punjab since 2005 to enhance the quality of education by integrating technology and innovating teaching techniques into teaching learning process – organized state level contest on Swachh Vidyalya Swachh Bharat in association with Sarva Sikhsha Abhiyaan, Punjab under the noble guidance of honourable Education Minister Dr. Daljeet Singh Cheema and DGSE Punjab, Shri Pardeep Kumar Aggarwal.

Speaking to this correspondent, Mrinalika Dhapola, Operations Director, Digital Equalizer, Program (AIF) Punjab said, the contest was open for all the Govt. schools of Punjab from 6th July 2015 to 31st October’2015. The objective of the contest was to bring behaviour change in students and cultivating spirit of maintaining cleanliness in school and community. Contest  focussed on six themes (Self cleanliness, clean classroom, clean food, clean water, clean toilets & clean neighbourhood) identified by MHRD. Schools were expected to submit their entries in the form of soft copy (videos/power point presentation ) or hardcopy showcasing initiatives taken for cleanliness efforts and its sustenance in school.

On this occasion, various cleanliness activities like speech, debates, chart competitions, rallies etc. were performed by students and teachers in school by involving community.

In all, 311 entries received from 14 districts of Punjab participated in the contest. Winning schools were awarded by honourable Education minister Dr. Daljeet Singh Cheema, DGSE Punjab, Pardeep Kumar Aggarwal, Add. (SPD) Gurjeet Singh and Mrinalika Dhapola, Operations Director (AIF) in a state level event organized at DGSE office.

GGSSS, Sanour, Patiala was awarded a computer, projector, momento and certificate for winning first prize at state level. GSSS Khudi Kalan, Barnala was awarded a projector, momento and certificate as 2nd Prize and GHS Gill, Ludhiana was awarded a printer, momento and certificate as 3rd prize.

Education Minister congratulated the winning schools and especially acknowledged the efforts done by American India Foundation in organizing the contest.
