Ferozepur, November 23, 2022: An attempt to loot an ATM in Guruharshai got foiled on Saturday night, not because of police action but due to the use of gas cutter to open the cash box.
When some unidentified miscreants tried to open the ATM installed by the Punjab and Sindh Bank containing cash, using a gas cutter, the notes caught fire. The baffled miscreants fled from the spot on seeing the blaze.
As per the information, Mandeep Kumar is deployed temporarily as Business Correspondent Agent at Punjab and Sindh Bank Golu Ka Moud near Guruharsahai at the ATM outside the Bank. He left the bank around 7.15 pm after putting down the shutter of ATM but when he came back in the morning at 7 am, the shutter was open and the ATM was damaged and the attempt to loot cash by using gas cutter was foiled by unidentified persons. No details of the cash in the ATM were made available so far.
However, while trying to open the box, the currency notes in the cash box caught fire. “Due to the flames of the gas cutter, the notes caught fire and upon seeing the blaze, the miscreants fled from the spot. The entire incident was recorded in the CCTV camera.
Meanwhile, the police have registered a case under Sections 457, 380, 511, 427 against unidentified person and further investigations are going on with Mehal Singh, IO, with special focus on CCTV footage study to learn about the identity of miscreant who had attempted the loot.
