Dharna in front of Kamal Sharma houseFerozepur, January 29 :  Today, the parents, relatives and well-wishers in hundreds of Amandeepn Kaur – who was killed at Mohali on January 12 – on seeing no action against the killers being supported by Kamal Sharma, Punjab BJP President, protested in front of his house.

It may be mentioned that Amandeep Kaur after completing BEd and Master’s of Computer Applications (MCA), Amandeep had joined a private institute for an advance PHP programming course. The murder of 22-year-old Amandeep Kaur of Dholewala village near Ferozepur, has not only cut short the career of an ambitious rural girl but also shattered the dreams of her parents who wanted to see her making achievements in life.

As per the sources, Amandeep Kaur was  shot dead by an old acquaintance for refusing his proposal for marriage at Phase V  Amandeep Kaur, a resident of Dholewal village in Ferozepur, received three bullets in her head, heart and abdomen. The accused was identified as Gurmeet Singh, an old acquaintance and a resident of Razzowala village in Ferozepur.  The victim was shot from a point blank range. At the time of the incident, she was being accompanied by her three friends, who also belonged to the Ferozepore area was pressing Amandeep to marry him and she told him that her parents would not be ready to marry her off to him as they did not belong to the same caste.

Showing resentment for not taking action, the protesters said, on the one hand Narendera Modi Prime Minister and BJP leader is talking about the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign throughout the nation, whereas Punjab BJP President is openly now allowing to initiate any action against the killers.

The victim’s father Kulbir Singh of Dhoewala Ferozepur said, on January 12, Gurmeet Singh alongwith his friends fled away from the scene after murder of his daughter at Mohali in Phase V but the police arrested his accomplice Jagtar Singh alias Prince of Khushal Singh Wala (Rakhri) along with one of his friend, who is the son of Balwant Singh Chairman Block Samiti Ferozepur and BJP leader.  The police also recovered two cars with fake number plates from the incident spot.  The police have also arrested Gurmit Singh and Angrez Singh on the basis of investigation from Jagtar Singh alias Prince.

He further stated that according to SSP Mohali, Jagtar Singh has also revealed the names of 10 more persons who had in connivance made the plan of murder. But now the police has come with a version after the arrest of Gurmeet Singh and Angrez Singh that the others associates have come to stop them from doing so.

Levelling charges, he further said that police under the pressure of Kamal Sharma, Punjab BJP, are trying to save Jagtar Singh alias Prince, who is the son of influential person, by making a different story and  no action has so far been initiated against the accused – Jagtar Singh and his accomplice – arrested on the spot.

Kulbir Singh said, the agitation will continue till such time legal action is not initiated against all the accused for murder of his daughter.

When contacted Kamal Sharma, Punjab BJP President over mobile, he said, the incident of murder of Amandeep Kaur was very unfortunate and condemnable.  The Mohali police have made certain arrests in this case and police chief in a press conference had already briefed.   However, some political parties – without naming anyone –  are trying to play the political game by making it a political issue which is condemnable.  I demand from the police administration to initiate action against any other accused in this case by making an impartial and neutral inquiry.
