Aim of Punjab State Commission for Women is to create awareness of women’s rights and improve their status : Paramjit Kaur Landra
Ferozepur, December 3, 2015: The aim of Punjab State Commission for Women is to create awareness of rights to women provided in the Constitution so that they too could contribution in the development of the country by getting the equal status in the society. These views were expressed by Paramjit Kaur Landra, Chairperson, during her tour to the border area villages while addressing the audience in Jantak Darbar organized to listen to the problems of women.
Paramjit Kaur Landra said, Jantak Darbars are being in association with Human Rights Mission, Mohali to create awareness among the women and poor people about the welfare schemes available for the border area people and common man besides listening to their problems.
She said, Under this programme, Pathankot and Gurdaspur districts have already been covered and on Saturday, the Jantak Darbar will be held Fazilka and Sito Guno.
She further said, during the last three years, more than 5,000 complaints from women have been settled.
Our Constitution and Religion provide equal rights to women and both religious sentiments and Constitution should be given due respect so that there is no discrimination with the women in the society, she added.
She also invited the girls and women to work hard with full dedication to achieve their targets in life.
The seminar was also addressed the mammoth gathering by Brig(Retd) Gurinderjit singh, Rajinder Kaur, Deputy Chairpersonj, Punjab State Commissioner for Women.
