Advocates on strike – demands retaining of 44 villages with Jalalabad  

Row over inclusion of 44 villages in Jalalabad or Guruharsahai Tehsils

Ferozepur, February 23:  Today, the advocates members of the Bar Association, Jalalabad boycott the courts and observed full day’s strike in protest to retain the 44 villages of Guruharsahai Sub Division with Jalalabad.

The protest was led by Parvinder Kamboj, President, Karan Chhabra, Secreary, Karamjit Singh Sandhu, Vice President, Sunil Singh Treasurer, Sat Pal Kamboj, Ashok Bageria, G.K.Jindal and others.

Speaking on this occasion, Parvinder Singh President, Bar Association said, the government had earlier issued a notification for attaching 44 villages with Jalalabad Tehsil keeping in view the interest and convenience of the people but now unnecessary  political and government pressure is being built to reverse the orders, which they will not tolerate.

Putting a demand before the government, they said, the notification with regard to 44 villages should be kept intact and in the event of any reverse orders, the agitation will be intensified.

It may be added that earlier Guruharsahai advocates had also proceeded on strike for retaining of these 44 villages with Guruharsahai Tehsil.
