One arrested for spreading rumour on social media regarding Covid-19
Ferozepur, September 3, 2020 (Satinder Sandhu): The Ferozepur police have arrested a man for spreading fake information on social media regarding the removal of organs trafficking in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.
A person identified as Amarinder resident of Naju shah Wala village has been arrested by Ferozepur police for posting the picture of the dead body on ‘Sher- E- Punjab Pahwan’ group on Facebook and wrote that organ trafficking going on in the hospitals.
In this context, SSP Ferozepur Bhupinder Singh said that case has been registered against Amarinder Singh under section 66 of Information Technology Act, 153 of IPC and 54 of Disaster Management act 2005 adding that this type of fake news creates panic among the general public.
He said that the police will find sources of such type of fake posts to expose the network of such people. He described news of organ trafficking to be unjustified and meaningless.
SSP appealed the masses to stay away from such rumours as the same are very much away from the truth. He also warned the rumour spreader not post such baseless information which can cause tension among the general masses otherwise they will be dealt with a heavy hand.
