DC Ferozepur visits Hussainiwala by train to pay floral tributes to martyrs on 88th Martyrdom Day

Ferozepur, March 23, 2019: Today, Chander Gaind, Deputy Commissioner visited Hussainwala Martyrs Memorial by traveling in a train to pay floral tributes to the martyrs Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru on their 88th Martyrdom Day

Chander Gain is first Deputy Commissioner who made the people surprised by traveling in a train and joining the passengers as a common man. It was 22 minutes 10 km journey started from Ferozepur Railway station at 9.40 am and reached at Hussainiwal terminal at 10.02  am.

 

Gaind said, I decided to travel up to Hussainiwala by the special train started  by the railways which used to be historical train, started in 1887, flagged off in 1912, still moving of tracks, now more than 100 year old –  from Mumbai to Ganda Singh Wala, Kasur and Rawalpindi Junctions (Now in Pakistan) before partition.  The Britishers used to come by ship up to Mumbai for business or other officials works and from there used to travel in this train in Pakistan.

 

Deputy Commissioner said that this is historical rail track where the services were started in 1887 and train was used to go GandaSingh Wala, Kasur and Rawalpindi Juntions (now In Pakistan) and Punjab mail which was flagged off in 1912, is still moving on this track. 

 

Deputy Commissioner was sitting next to the newly wedded couple of border town Gatti Rajo Ke – Balwinder Singh and his wife and wished them a happy married life besides inviting them to visit Employment Opportunity Office to for employment for his family also.

 

After paying the floral tributes on behalf of the administration, Gaind said, it  (Hussainiwlaa Martyrs Memorial) is such a place where the feeling of patriotism comes automatically even to those who have even little emotions for the martyrs and to have a good feeling, I have come by train, by which martyrs might have also travelled.

On asking as to how he feels while traveling in a general compartment in the train, he said, a number of martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country and I too wanted to have feeling as a mark of respect to the martyrs. I want to become a public DC, he repeated, I am not a bureaucratic DC, I am public DC, he added.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner was also welcomed by BSF Commandant Shiv Om, Amarjeet Singh, Sita Ram at the Memorial.

The district administration has also set up a special corner near memorial under SVEEP program and voter-verifiable paper audit trails (VVPATs) machines were exhibited to inform the general public about its functioning. 

A signature campaign was also started by the Deputy Commissioner to exhort the voters for their massive participation in the voting process, at one of the corner, in association with the railway authorities.

On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner Ravinder Singh, Ravinder Pal Sandhu, Assistant Commissioner Ranjit Singh, SDM  Amit Gupta, Secretary Red Cross Society Ashoke Bahal and other administration officials were present.
