Gramin Dak Sewaks go on ‘Indefinite Strike’ in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, February 11, 2019: All India Gramin Dak Sewaks Union, Ferozepur Division today sit on indefinite strike in front of the office of Senior Superintendent Post Offices, Ferozepur to register their protest against issuing of false charge sheets to Surinder Singh Himmatpura Divisional Secretary, AIGDSU for using unparliamentary language to his seniors.
Besides, they are also protesting for implementation of Kamlesh Chandra Committee report in letter and spirit. The Commission has recommended implementation of 7th Pay Commission to these GDS with effect from January 1, 2016, by regularizing their services.
Surinder Singh Himmatpur speaking to media person informed that when he spoke to Sub Post Master – SPM at Dharamkot and Inspector at Fazilka in connection with some official work in the public interest, they threatened over the phone and rather used abusive language which cannot be spoken in the public for which he has a recording with him. I am being targeted by making the false complaints whereas the senior officers need to the charge sheet but they are being sheltered.
Addressing the protesters, the Union leaders demanded to withdraw the charge sheet against Divisional Secretary Surinder Singh. They threatened that for not doing so, they will be compelled to convert the ‘indefinite strike’ into ‘strike until death’.
In today’s hunger strike, Sohan Singh Maini, Divl. Secretary Hosirapur, Rakesh Kumar, Asstt. Secretary, Jaswant Rai President, Administrative Secretary Swarn Hastealia, Vijay Chhabra Abohar, Gurjit Singh,Parveen Kumar Abohar, Dharamvir, Nand Lal, Madam Sonu, Maya Devi, Santosh Jasvir Kaur, Kavita, Rajvinder Singh, Navjot Kaur and Santosh Kaur besides as many as 200 Gramin Dak Sewaks – GDS, were present.
People will face inconvenience as their work regarding letters, passports, roll number, old age pension, widow and handicap pensions with the halt of the work in all the branches of post offices.
