India holdups visa to Qureshi Chairman, BSMFP for Bhagat Singh’s birth anniversary
Ferozepur, September 19. 2018: Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi, Founder and Chairman of Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation Pakistan – BSMFP- fighting legally to change the name of Shadman Chowk to Bhagat Singh Chowk in Pakistan – has not been granted the visa to celebrate 111th Birth Anniversary of the martyr. Qureshi wanted to celebrate the birth anniversary of Bhagat Singh at Ferozepur.
Speaking over phone, Qureshi said, “He along with his two persons – spokesperson and legal advisor of the Foundation – had applied for the visa – under passport numbers – AA4910063, CK0948521 and LP151051, about 40 days back for celebrations of birth anniversary of Bhagat Singh and wanted to take part in the events organized at Hoshiarpur, Fazilka, Chandigarh to meet various people associated with the martyr of the freedom struggle but did not get any response from the Indian side.
Added here, the Birth Anniversary of Bhagat Singh falls on September 28 and Qureshi during his last visit to Ferozepur had met the members of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Rajguru Sukhdev Memorial Foundation.
Earlier, Qureshi had got threats from some fundamentalists in the past to stop fighting this case and video message to this effect was also viral on the social media.
Qureshi also shared that had the visa been provided to him, it would strengthen the relations between the two countries.
