Candle March in Ferozepur to seek justice for rape victims
Ferozepur, April 24, 2018: It was a real show of solidarity when hundreds of students and local NGOs joined the Candle March protest seeking immediate and befitting punishment for the perpetrators of Kathua, Unnav, Bhopal, Gurdaspur and Delhi rape and murder.
Youths holding candles and banners marched from Shaheed Udham Singh Chowk against the politicization and communalization of sexual violence and rape incidents were condemned in strong words.
Expressing resentment over the recent incidents of rape, the Kayra Kapoor, Rupinder Vishal, Mega Rajpur and others said, the whole of the country is feeling ashamed of rape incidents and demanded immediate arrest the accused, in all the cases besides giving them rare of the rarest punishment. It is a disgrace to the nation if the females are exploited, tormented and harassed by anyone at anyone.
They said it is a blot on the country when the rape incidents with the small children are reported. They also prayed for granting peace to the departed soul of Asifa and justice to the deceased family.
It is our moral duty to come forward to raise voice against the heinous crime of rape and seek justice for the victim and her family.
Such incidents if overlooked will only lead to disastrous situations, said a local NGO Diwan Chand Sukhija.
