Ferozepur becomes the first district to start Electronic Waste Management Project
Ferozepur, December 20, 2017: In a major step, Ferozepur has become the first district in the state to start the electronic waste management project, under which the administration has installed collection points, where people would be able to drop their damaged electronic devices for further recycling.
Deputy Commissioner Ramvir said that under the Swachh Bharat Mission, the project is being implemented by the Municipal Council, Ferozepur and it is only the 6th project across the nation.
He further said that more than 50 collection boxes have been installed at public places like bus stand, Railway station, Deputy Commissioner, SSP office Electronic shops and offices of Local bodies in the Municipal Area.
To aware the people about the use of this project, the district administration has decided to start the awareness campaign in educational institutions and public places. Besides, NGOs across the district will also be engaged in the awareness drive, he added.

said that generally, people leave electronic wastage along with normal wastage which further effects the soil health as elements like led, zinc, copper turned this electronic wastage into harmful wastage in the soil.
Expressing satisfaction on the initial success of the project, they informed that till now more than 100 kg electronic wastage has been collected from the collection points, which would be disbursed to the concerned companies for recycling.
Seeking cooperation from the people for its grand success, Deputy Commissioner has said that the district administration would further expand the project in other parts of the district in next two months.
