CI arrests two smugglers with heroin from Indo-Pak international border
Ferozepur, December 1, 2017: The Counter Intelligence in an operation on a tip-off arrested two smugglers with heroin from Indo-Pak international border near BSF Border Area Post Mabeke. The modus operandi of smuggling is done by taking the land across barbered wire fencing on contract.
IG Narinder Pal Singh Sidhu in a press conference informed to the media persons that the arrested smugglers were identified as Mukhtiar Singh alias Kali son of Chiman Singh and Gurnam Singh alias Thammu son of Dhola Singh of Fattewala Hittar – Jalleke and Surjit Singh son of Balvir Singh of Panje Ke Uttar and Smara Singh alias Sharma son of Surjit Singh of Nihala Kilcha are doing the business in connivance with the Pakistani smugglers.
He further said all had taken the land across the barbered fencing had taken the land on the contract basis where they come for cultivation and harvesting purposes and come back with the heroin by hiding in the trolley.
Working on the tip-off, the team of CI a special nakabandi was organized and during the search operation, Mukhtiar Singh and Gurnam Singh were arrested with 3 kg heroin and 200 gm opium. AIG informed that Surjit Singh smuggler managed to escape from the Naka and delivery of the material was to be made to Sandeep Singh Samar Singh.
With this recovery and arrest of smugglers, the CI staff has cracked the heroin supply line to a great extent.
During the preliminary investigation, Mukhtiar Singh admitted that earlier also he has delivery the heroin consignments through Sandeep Singh and Samar Singh from Pakistan in rest of the parts of the Punjab state, he said.
He further said the smugglers will be produced in the court for seeking further remand for further investigation from them.
In the meantime, a case has been registered against the smugglers under NDPS Act.
