Courts open-minded, parents narrow minded over love marriage – five booked over marriage against wish of girl’s parents
Ferozepur, October 1, 2017: While the courts are very liberal and parents are narrow minded over the love marriage if the proof is available that both the girl and boy are major or unless until it was established that marriage took place under pressure, threat, intoxication, coercion or undue influence, the girl’s parents in almost all the cases have problem.
A case of beating the daughter and son-in-law of village Chapati in Ferozepur, has come to notice with sharp edged weapons over a legal love marriage the Punjab and Haryana High Court by Rashpal Singh with Kirandeep Kaur residing in their neighbor.
Added here, these days it is common to see marriage breaking apart in India society just a few years or even few days after the grand wedding day. It is better that a marriage be dissolved if two compatible people have to suffer each other throughout their life time or if there is some kind of abuse involved. But the majority of the people are of the view that consent in love marriage should be given by both the parents of the boy and girl, if they are major. The breathing space certainly ensures a healthy and happy relation among all the people involved for a lifetime.
Giving this information, Rashpal Singh said, he got married with Kirandeep Kaur in the court with her consent during March but the parents and relatives of Kirandeep Kaur were not happy with the marriage.
He further said that when they were going back to their village after giving an application to the District Police Chief for protection, Mukhtiar Singh along with his relatives attacked on them with sharp edged weapons. We were admitted in the local hospital and in view of serious nature of injuries, shifted to GGS Medical College Faridkot. In this scuffle, one old lady was also injured.
Gurdial Singh, ASI investigating in to the case informed that a case has been registered at Lakho Ke Behram Police Station against Sonu son of Mangat Sighl Manjit Singh son of Kuka Singh, Mukhtiar Singh son of Dulla Singh, Chan Singh son of Mangat Singh, Kakka Singh son of Dulla Singh, under Sections 323, 324, 148, 149 IPC in the statement of seriously injured Rachhpal Singh son of Gurbachan Singh of village Chapati and further investigations have been initiated in the case.
