Recovery of mobile, drug on second consecutive day from jail exposes security gap

Ferozepur, January 7, 2020:  The recovery of mobile from the prisoner on the second consecutive day from inside the Central Jail has put a big question mark on the security arrangements. During the surprise raids, one mobile and heroin has been recovered from the under-trial prisoners lodged at the Central Jail Ferozepur.

The security arrangements at the Central Jail are already under the scanner with the frequent recovery of mobiles from inside the jail campus and so far no arrangements to install the device to check the entry of mobiles inside the jail have been installed despite the announcement by the Jail Minister.

There is a frequent recovery of mobiles and drugs from the prison during every search operation and today is the third consecutive day of recovery of mobile.

According to Jatinder Singh, IO in this case, an FIR has been registered on the complaint of Asstt. Supdt. Central Jail, Sukhwant Singh under NDPS Act 51-A/42 Prisons Act against prisoners under trials Harjinder Singh and Kulwinder Singh.

During the search operations on January 6, one mobile Samsung brand golden colour with batter without SIM Card from Harinder Singh and a small quantity of substance like heroin from kulwinder Singh.

However, the investigations are on to ascertain the misuse of mobile and source of smuggling of heroin inside the jail.
