Kamboj Group of People to hold 'Candle March' from Jantar Mantar to Indian Gate on July 31
Ferozepur, July 11, 2016 : In a special meeting of Kamboj brothers held at Shaheed Udham Singh Bhawan at Ferozepur under the tutelage of Bhagwan Singh Sama Nurpur, it was decided to participate in maximum in the Candle March on July 31 from Jantar Mantar to India Gate.
The meeting was specially attended by Iqbal Chand Batti, District President and Gurbhej Singh Tibbi.
In the meeting, it was also decided to celebrate Martyrs’ Day on August 7 instead of July 31.
Added here that Udham Singh – December 26, 1899 at Sunam – July 31, 1940 at HM Prison Pentonville London, United Kingdom – was an Indian revolutionary best known for assassinating Sir Michael O'Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of the Punjab in British India, on 13 March 1940. He spent his whole life to punish Michael O'Dwyer, the British Lieutenant Governor of the Punjab who ordered the massacre of a thousand people at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar.
