Ferozepur, March 15, 2025: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Ferozepur police have intensified their ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign, leading to the arrest of four accused and the recovery of significant quantities of narcotics and arms.
SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said, the police conducted targeted operations, successfully arresting four drug peddlers and seizing 2 kg 820 grams of heroin along with Rs. 1 lakh in drug money. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to curb the drug menace in the region.
He said, a team led by SP (D) Ferozepur arrested two accused, identified as Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukha and Phuman Singh, under the NDPS Act and seized 1 kg 579 grams of heroin. In another operation led by SP(D), DSP(R.) and SHO Mamdot resulted in the arrest of two drug smugglers, identified as Sonu and Ravinder Singh, in Mamdot, with 796 grams of heroin recovered. However, in the third operation, led to the seizure of 445 grams of heroin and one country-made pistol. The accused Sambal alias Semeul of Mamdot is yet to be made.
Divulging with the details of overall Impact from March 1-14, 2025, SSP said, 66 cases registered under the NDPS Act, 138 accused arrested, 9 kg 204 grams of heroin recovered, 4755 drug tablets/capsules seized, Rs. 3.13 lakh drug money confiscated, and 3 pistols and 2 magazines were recovered.
SSP Sidhu reiterated the commitment of the Punjab Police to eradicate drug networks and urged the public to support law enforcement efforts by reporting suspicious activities. The police have assured continued strict action against drug traffickers to ensure a drug-free society.
