Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle & Achievers Society celebrates Sikh Environment Day

Ferozepur, March 18: S.B.S. State Technical Campus (Poly Wing), Ferozepur in collaboration with Guru Gobind Study Circle Ferozepur-Moga Zone and ACHIEVERS Society (Deptt Society of ECE Deptt) celebrated  “SIKH ENVIRONMENT DAY” in the campus.

On this occasion 52 rose saplings were planted in the Technical Campus ground on this occasion.

This day was celebrated to commemorate the Guruai Day of 7th Guru of Sikhs Guru Har Rai Ji. Guru Har Rai was a nature lover and he instilled a vision among his followers to care for and to live in harmony with nature and other living beings. Guru Har Rai Sahib established 52 gardens in his lifetime.

Parwinder Singh and Inderpal Singh from Guru Gobind Study Circle Ferozepur-Moga Zone addressed the audience. They highlighted the Sikh values, beliefs, and institutions to the most important environmental issues facing our world.

They correlated the water occupancy of earth with Human body as three-fourths of the Earth is occupied by water and human beings are made up of about 70 per cent of water. Yet, water threatens to become the 21st century&#39s most burning issue. Wars are expected to break out in the name of sharing of river and ocean waters, India being a case in point. As humanity moves toward the 21st century, we are left with no choice but to redefine the values and principles that underlie our relationship with the Earth.

Dr. T. S. Sidhu, Campus Director and Mr. Gazal Preet Arneja, Principal-Poly Wing welcomed all the distinguished members from Guru Gobind Study Circle Ferozepur-Moga Zone.

Mr. Gurjeevan Singh, Chairman-ACHIEVER’s Society; Mr. Gobind; Mr Manpreet Singh; Mr Ajay Singla; Mr. N. S. Bajwa (I/c Horticulture); Sh. Gurpreet Singh; Sh. M S Bajwa;  Sh. Arun Chander and Sh Gursharan Singh were present during this occasion.

Dr. T. S. Sidhu, Campus Director appreciated the efforts of Guru Gobind Study Circle Ferozepur-Moga Zone and Polytechnic Wing faculty and students in promoting general awareness about the benefits of plantation trees and enhancing pollution free green environment.  New approach is required to save the world from various threats, he said.
