Ferozepur, May 12, 2020:  Today, 13 Shramik special trains with 15,000 migrant workers had successfully moved from Ferozepur railway division making it a total of 63 trains and 75,000 passengers.

These trains were 5 from Jalandhr City for Gorakhpur, including two trains for  Gonda and Betia and 6 trains from Ludhiana to Sitamadhi, Partapgarh, Rai Barelly, Hardoi, Unnav and Amethi. Two trains from Amritsar for Mau and Champa had moved.

Divulging more, DRM Ferozeur, Rajesh Aggarwal said, So far 63 Shramik trains have moved from Ferozepur rail division ferrying 75,000 passengers – 15 to Bihar, 41 to Uttar Pradesh, 4 for Jharkhand, 2 for MP and one for Chattisgarh.

The railways have extended 85 per cent and the state governments are making all these payments without charging anything from the migrant workers, he added.

DRM said, only the registered passengers have been allowed to board these trains, identified by the state government and after proper medical fitness as per the instruction on Covid-19 guidelines.

DRM said, the dedicated staff of railways – by technical and non-technical officials – have made all this possible who deserve all outstanding appreciation for performing their duties during the threat of coronavirus by taking all precautionary measures adding that Ferozepur rail division is committed to serving the county in the challenging time.
