8 visually-impaired inmates of Home for the Blinds Ferozepur get job in Punjab Govt.

Ferozepur, October 13, 2016 : With the nod of Punjab Government, for filling up backlog of 1084 posts reserved for visually-impaired candidates in various departments of Punjab, the long awaited, 8 inmates of local Home for the Blinds got the appointment in Education and Health departments.

The Social Security departments have been asked to coordinate with every department and ensure that the process was completed at the earliest.

Giving this information, Jaswinder Singh, Supervisor informed that two inmates have since joined against the post of class-four in health department, while the six are likely to join in the education department as music teachers.

Those who are to get appointment as Music teacher are – Kuldeep Sharma, Ajay Kumar Sharma, Rakesh kumar, Aamrit Pal, Ramesh Kumar and Vinod Kumar inmates of Home for the Blinds, Ferozepur while  Ajay Kumar and Inderjit have got the appointment as Class-four employee and joined the health department.

In fact, the three categories of persons visually-impaired, disabled and handicaps – have been pursuing for appointment against one percent reserve quota since long and despite notification and Punjab and Haryana High Court directions, there had been no appointment since 2011.

Balwinder Singh, General Secretary, National Federation of Blinds (NFB) Punjab Unit said, against 1647 posts vacant for the three reserved categories, as per directions of Supreme Court, advertisement for 1084 posts was given and for the remaining posts, the advertisement yet to be released.

He said initially these posts are on consolidated wages for teachers as Rs.10300 and for Class-four Rs.5000 basic pay for the first three years as per the latest notification of the government and likely to be regularized later on.

He said, acceding to another demand of the delegation of NFB, the CM has asked the Principal Secretary Education to put 162 posts of Junior Basic Training teachers back in the category of hobby teachers so that visually-impaired candidates could benefit from it.

The concerned departments have been directed to complete the entire recruitment process for these posts within three months besides reviving 12 posts of teachers in Government School for the Blind at Jamalpur near Ludhiana, he added.

He said, besides filling up the vacant posts for visually impaired and disabled persons in the state, we are also pursuing for promotion of the employees with the government, who are in service for the last 18-20 years.
