3038 cases settled amicably in National and Pre-Lok Adalats

Ferozepur December 09, 2017: Under the directive of National Legal Services Authority, Justice T.P.S.Mann, Executive Chairman, Punjab Legal Service Authority and under the tutelage of S.K.Aggarwal, District and Sessions Judge, Ferozepur,  National Lok Adalat was organized in Ferozepur. In all 3038 cases were settled in National and Pre-Lok Adalats today with an award of Rs.6,16,15,483 crore.

In all, 615 cases were amicably settled with 17 Benches – 13 at Ferozepur, one at Guruharsahai and 3 at Zira with an award of Rs.4,33,34,313 crore.

Apart from this, in the Pre-Lok Adalats, out  3748 listed cases, 2423 were settled amicably with an award of Rs.1,82,81,170 crore.

District and Sessions Judge said that the major benefits of Lok Adalat are that the court fees paid by the litigant are refundable and the decision passed by the Lok Adalat is final and binding upon the parties. litigants as well as lawyers actively participated in the Lok Adalat and appealed to other litigants to endear themselves to Lok Adalats to avail cost and time effective and perpetual benefits. 

The maximum number of people availed the opportunity of Lok Adalat and settled the cases with mutual consent. There is no appeal for the cases settled in Lok Adalats, he added.
