30,000 ltrs ‘lahan’ recovered from border village Ali Ke near Sutlej River
Ferozepur, November 6, 2021 : In joint operation, working swiftly on the tip-off, a raid was conducted by police CIA staff and excise officials at border village Ali Ke near Sutlej River and 35,000 ltrs ‘lahan’ was recovered.
A close study of such recoveries in the past, reveals that the residents of the villages near Sutlej River don’t have much agricultural land, as on the one side is the international border touching the Pakistan boundary and on the other side is the Sutlej River. They don’t have many sources of income and have no choice except to do illicit liquor business as a source of income. But, it continued to be a regular feature. Sometimes villagers are arrested but they are out on bail after some time and again start the extracting illicit liquor business.
Jagdish Raj, CIA staff incharge Ferozepur said that secret information was received that Grunam Singh, Ktr Singh, Dara Singh, and Kal Singh of village Alike falling under Sadar Police station are brewing illicit liquor at the banks of Sutlej River.
During the raid, 30,000 ltrs ‘lahan’ was recovered and reported to be destroyed on the spot to avoid its misuse, besides 18 tarpals, 9 drums. Meanwhile, ASI Navtej Singh of CIA staff has been assigned the duty to further investigate the matter as IO.
