1,710 cases disposed of at National Lok Adalat in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, April 22, 2018: As many as 1,710 cases were disposed of during the National Lok Adalat organized at the District Judicial Complex here today at Ferozepur, under directions from National Legal Services Authority Delhi.
Divulging the details, District and Sessions Judge, Ferozepur, S.K.Aggarwal said, 9 benches were constituted for pending and pre-litigation cases in Ferozepur – 6 at Ferozepur, 2 at Sub-Division Zira, one at Guruharsahai and one at permanent Lok Adalat Ferozepur.
He said, in all 3416 cases were presented, out of 621 cases were settled on the spot with an award of Rs.41,010,619 with mutual consent of both the parties.
Apart from this, in pre-Lok Adalats, from 12.2.2018 to 21.4.2018, 1726 cases were put up, out of 1089 were settled with an award of Rs.2,59,63,622 with the consent of both the parties, he said.
Aggarwal further said, there is appeal against the decisions taken in the Lok adalats and they are final could not be challenged further. He said the decision of Lok Adalat was final that could not be challenged further. The decisions taken in the Lok Adalat are recognized as decree and satisfactory besides both the parties are free from any further litigation. Lok adalats are also instrumental in saving time and money of the people besides promoting harmony, he added.
