A close study reveals that the residents of the villages near Sutlej River don’t have much agricultural land, as on the one side is the international border touching the Pakistan boundary and on the other side is the Sutlej River. They don’t have many sources of income and have no choice except to do illicit liquor business as a source of income as the wine is costly and not affordable for the common man. When there is strictness from the administration, then there is some stagnation and some arrests are made otherwise on seeing cops, the accused persons escaped from the spot. But, it continued to be a regular feature. Sometimes villagers are arrested but they are out on bail after some time and again start the extracting illicit liquor business.
