12 trains cancelled, 5 diverted, 7 each short termination and short origination in Ferozepur NR Div

 

 

Ferozepur, October 12, 2015:  With the ongoing rail roko agitation in the state has affected the movement of trains today also  in Northern Railway Division Ferozepur, which is the largest railway division in the country with 1860 km long rail net work.

In all, as per the Railway Bulletin released, 12 trains were cancelled, 5 were diverted and 7 each were on short termination and short origination in the Ferozepur Division.

The crucial talks between protesting farmers and Punjab CM to break the deadlock over farmers’ demands was to be held today even as rail services remained hit for the sixth consecutive day, causing inconvenience to passengers.

 

The agitation spearheaded by 8 farmers unions have put lakhs of commuters to inconvenience besides jeopardized the entire functioning of this division.

It may be added that during the past five days, 369 trains of the Ferozepur divison alone had been affected that include 179 cancelled trains, 94 mail and 85 passenger trains. Besides, l 82 trains were diverted and 108 either short terminated or short originated.

In 2014 also,the Ferozepur Railway Division which generates annual revenue of Rs.3800 crore had recorded a profit of around Rs.2,000 crore, which is likely to take a severe dent this year.

Railway sources said,the import-export business, tourism, goods transportation and trade has also affected.
