108 Ambulance av available 24×7 hours is proving boon for needy persons in case of emergency

Ferozepur, May 4, 2015 : 108 Ambulance service started by the Punjab Government to provide timely treatment and medical facility is proving a boon for the needy persons in the state. Any person in need of emergency help can dial a toll free number 108 from any landline or mobile set, the ambulance reaches the site within 20 minutes in urban areas and 30 minutes in rural areas.  It is very popular and easily available service.

Divulging with the information, Er.DPS Kharbanda, Deputy Commissioner said, under the 108 Ambulance service started in April 2011 have saved the lives of 76165 persons of the district by providing them timely help.

He informed that the ambulance is available at the civil hospitals and community health centres at Ferozepur City, Guruharsahai, Zira, Makhu and Mamdot.

He further informed that in case of emergency, the needy persons has to give information on the toll free number 108 and the ambulance reaches at the designated spot within 20 minutes in the city area and in 30 minutes in rural areas along with the paramedical staff and the patient is shifted to the nearest hospital.

Er.Kharbanda appealed to the people to inform for this service at 108 with exact location and emergency service required so that emergency is sent to them accordingly.

Giving more details, he informed that the ambulance services were provided in different cases – 83 snake biting, 275 fire incident and other cases, 940 cases relating to different agriculture and local tragedies, 16793 female safety cases, 32596 delivery cases, 6136 medical emergency cases, 1192 other medical services. In addition, the ambulance services were provided in  6291 road accidents and in 68 cases the lives were save by providing the immediate medical help.

Dr.Y.K.Gupta Civil Surgeon informed that 108 ambulance service is provided free of cost and available 24×7 hours.
