100-bedded PGI Satellite Centre in border town Ferozepur gets nod
Ferozepur June 30, 2018: With the final nod from PGI governing body at its meeting in New Delhi regarding setting up of Rs.200 crore project of 100-bedded PGI Satellite Centre in this border town, the controversy and credit over between the two political parties ended. This project was announced in 2013 during the fag end of the UPA-II regime.
Parminder Singh Pinki, MLA from Ferozepur (Urban) said the matter was listed as agenda item no 32 in the meeting, which finally stood approved. He said all promises made during the elections are being honoured step-by-step.
Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had also instructed Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Satish Chandra to immediately take up the issue of the PGI Satellite Centre in Ferozepur with the Central government during another high-level meeting of the Department of Medical Education and Research that took place in Chandigarh on the same day.
The state government had identified a 25-acre plot at Malwal Kadim village in Bazidpur for the centre – famous for Gurdawara Zamini Sahib. Now the matter will be taken up by the Health Ministry for the transfer of the site.
With the setting up of PGI in Ferozepur, at least people of 8 districts of Malwa Zone will be benefitted.
