Western Command organizes Sports Meet-JOSH 2015
Ferozepur, November 5, 2016: The Cantonment Board Ferozepur is organizing two days Sports Meet – JOSH 2015 at local Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium, Ferozepur.
461 students including 224 girls, from the ten Cantonments of the Western Command including Ferozepur, Ambala, Delhi, Amritsar, Bhalokh, Dalhousie, Jutogh, Jalandhar, Khasyol and Kasauli are participating in this mega event.
Dr. A.K. Kapoor, IDES, Principal Director, Defence Estates, Western Command, Chandigarh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The chief guest was warmly welcomed by Brig. Deepak Saini, President of the Cantonment Board, Ferozepur and Shri Ompal Singh, IDES, CEO, Cantonment Board, Ferozepur.
The Chief Guest inaugurated the Sports meet by unfurling the flag. A march past was also performed by the students of the schools which are participating in this event. Besides, an entertaining cultural programme was also performed by the students of DCM Sr. Sec. School, Ferozepur Cantt and Ferozepur Cantonment Board schools.
During his address the chief guest Dr. A.K. Kapoor, IDES conveyed his warm wishes to all the participants and the dignitaries present on the occasion. He also gave the message to the youth to refrain from the usage of drugs. He said that events like this spread a message of universal brotherhood. He said that due to events like this, the pupils come to know about different cultural and places which help them a lot in the future.
Shri Om Pal Singh, IDES, Chief Executive Officer, Cantonment Board Ferozepur expressed his thanks to the District Administration and Police authorities for extending their support in conducting this sports event and for maintaining law & order.
On this occasion several IDES officers including Sh. Parshottam Lal, CEO Jalandhar Cantonment, Sh. Arvind Dwivedi, CEO Ambala cantonment, Dr. Anupam Talwar, CEO Jutogh cantonment, Shri Varun Kalia, DEO Ambala cantonment, Shri Vinit, DEO Jalandhar cantonment along with Sh. Surinder Singh, Vice President, Ferozepur Cantonment, Sh. Sunil Kumar and Sh. Rohit, Members Cantonment Board, Ferozepur, Anirudh Gupta, CEO, DCM Group of Schools, Sh. Sunil Kumar, District Sports Officer, Ferozepur were also present.
EVENTS AND RESULTS
On the first day, as many as 9 sports events including 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100m, 4x400m, Javelin Throw, Discus Throw, Shot put, Long jump were played. Till the last news update Sanjana, Simran, Suraj, Anjali, Bobby, Harman, Sneha from CB School Ferozepur have brought laurels to this town by winning medals in various events conducted today on 05.11.2015.
