War on Drugs : Ferozepurians led by DC express solidarity against drugs in the Cycle Rally

Ferozepur, June 26, 2019:  The District Administration today organized ‘Cycle Rally’ to on Int’l Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. People expressed solidarity against drugs and pledged together to wipe out this menace from the district.

The cycle rally participated by Cyclists Group – Cycle Assoication of Ferozepur and Hussainiwala Riders Ferozepur, various NGOs, Senior Citizens and school students, was flagged off at 5.30 am toda by Chander Gaind, Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur.

Deputy Commissioner also addressed the morning walkers and yoga groups gathering at Town Hall and Baghi Park and also had interaction with the people. 

He appealed to the residents to come forward to join the war against drugs to make the district a drug-free district.

 He said that if the people of Punjab can eliminate terrorism then they can also combat Narco-Terrorism, they just need to be united against this abuse. He called upon people to stand together against drugs suppliers, oppose them openly, protest against them and inform the police and special task force against the perpetrators of this act. He ensured people that the suppliers will not be able to withstand the mass opposition.

Sharing STF headquarters' contact number i.e. 79019-59595, 79019-39393 with the general public, the deputy commissioner exhorted people to complain against smugglers without any fear and ensured them the prompt action will be taken on their inputs.

 

Further, he appealed people to form Mohalla level committees against drug abuse and work as eye and ears of the district administration and police, adding that he expressed hope that these committees will work as a catalyst against this menace besides sensitizing people to make this war on drugs a mass movement.

 

Addressing the children participating in the cycle rally, Mr. Gaind motivated them to be aware of this menace. He exhorted students to help people stuck in the drugs and help them get rid of this problem besides treating them as patients. He asked parents instill a behavior in their children against drugs so that they can learn to handle this problem during their primitive days.

 

The deputy commissioner lauded the efforts of various NGOs for making the event a successful event while giving a special note to the services rendered in the noble cause by Cycling Association Ferozepur, Agreed Foundation, Senior Citizen Council, Hussaniwale Riders, Way-ahead immigration besides Sports department, Health Department, Municipal Council, Various clubs and Education department.
