Vigilance nabs two police officials accepting bribe

Ferozepur, October 26, 2017:  Today, the Vigilance Bureau sleuths today nabbed a Punjab police ASI and a constable while allegedly accepting the bribe of Rs.20,000 from a complainant Sukhpreet Kaur, a resident of Village Machhi Burj in Talwandi Bhai near Ferozepur.

Sharing with the details, the officials of VB said Sukhpreet had submitted his complaint to the VB that ASI Samraj Singh and Constable Rajwinder Singh, both working at Talwandi Bhai police station were threatening her that they will implicate her husband into the false drug case. In the complaint, she has further said that they demanded Rs. 60,000 from her but the deal was finalized at Rs.40,000 to save her husband from dire consequences.

 

As per the deal, the first installment of Rs. 20,000 was paid earlier and when today the second and final installment was to be paid, both ASI and Constable were nabbed red-handed.

Vigilance officials said that following the complaint, a case was registered against the alleged erring Punjab police officials at Vigilance Bureau Police Station under sections 7,13 (2) 88 PC Act (Case number 20 Dated 26.10.2017).

Both accused have been arrested and will be produced in the court tomorrow, said Hargobind Singh, SSP(Vig.).
