Unidentified person throws mobile, banned items inside jail
Ferozepur, December 15, 2020: The vigilant staff of jail has thwarted the attempt of inmates to use the mobile and other banned items, found thrown in a packet from outside the jail by some unidentified persons and high rising buildings near Ferozepur prison pose threat to security arrangements.
A case against unidentified person has been registered under Prisons Act on the complaint of Jarnail Singh, Assistant Superintendent, Central Jail.
As per the information, on Monday, some unidentified person throw a packet wrapped with khakhi tape and on opening some banned items like one mobile Samsumg Key pad with battery but without SIM card, two additional batteries, 8 sachets each of ‘zarda’ and tobacco wrapped in plastic envelope, one pack of cigarettes and one Cigar – were found.
Earlier also, there had been number of incidents of recovery of mobiles and other banned items from inside the jail from the possession of inmates or lying thrown outside the barracks. Recently, one mobile was recovered from high security zone barracks of jail. Even the jail and health officials inside jail were also found involved in arranging the banned items inside the jail.
Though the vigilant staff of jail has thwarted the attempt of use of most wanted banned items in the jail but with the recovery of another mobile on the second thrown from outside the jail has put a question mark on the security arrangements of jail authorities. Even once 8 mobiles wrapped in red colour cloth were found thrown in the jail.
It is also added that several residential and commercial establishments have come up in the vicinity pose a threat to the security arrangements of Central Jail which houses notorious criminals also. The security checks are at high risk and the purpose of keeping the inmates in jails from worldly affairs as a punishment is lost.
Meanwhile, Sukhdev Singh, has been appointed as IO to investigate into the case with special focus on availability of SIM already with the inmates.
