Under SVEEP programme, visually impaired gives message to must register and cast vote
Ferozepur, November 10, 2020: Under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program, better known as SVEEP, a flagship program of the Election Commission of India for voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India, on Tuesday, an awareness meet was held at Blind Home and visually impaired inmate conveyed the message to youths who have completed 18-years age, to register for news votes, before December 15.
Presently, there are 26 visually impaired inmates at Blind Home and under the SVEEP programme, the process for the preparation of new four votes was also initiated.
The program was attended by Election Cell’s Sweep Coordinator, Dr. Satindra Singh, who met the visually impaired and praised the awareness program from them. During the program, the visually impaired, Parminder Kumar through his video-recorded message, made the district residents aware that the process of creating new votes has been started from the Election Department, keeping in view the upcoming elections, whose last date is December 15 for the youths who have completed 18 years’ age.
In the message, it is said that the youths visit the election office or block-level officer and get their votes registered so that could contribute to the progress and development of the country by electing the right candidate. Apart from this, it was also conveyed in the message to make the use of vote with discretion to select the best out of the aspirant candidates.
Harish Kumar, Assistant Secretary, Blind Home and SVEEP Icon said that in the coming elections 25 visually impaired inmates will be using their right to franchise and we may proper arrangements for cast of votes by them, to contribute in selecting the candidates in a democratic manner.
Every vote is important and under SVEEP program, the maximum new votes are being prepared by reaching at their door-steps. The vote of these especially challenges persons is equally important as that of common man.
Present among others were Lakhwiner Singh from the election office, Avtar Singh, Supervisor, Puran Chand and others in this program.
