Two drug peddlers nabbed by Youth Club's Vigilance Squad
Ferozepur July 15, 2018: Two drug peddlers nabbed by volunteers of Shaheed Udham Singh Youth Club while selling heroin at Village Khalchian today.
Giving details, Manjinder Singh Bhullar member of the club said that the raid was conducted on the tip-off by few drug addicts who were also caught injecting themselves by the members of the youth club. To save the youth from the menace of drug addiction, the members of our club have formed a vigilance squad which keeps an hawk’s eyean the drug addicts. Today morning we had received information that two drug addicts were injecting themselves near railway over bridge at Village Khai Pheme ki. When we reached there, we nabbed two youth who were from nearby villages. Three more youngsters were nabbed by us who were taking drugs. When we enquired from them that how they get drugs, they told us that they get consignment from a drug peddler identified as Billa, a resident of Village Khalchian”, said Bhullar.
The club had earlier organized a foot march up to the CM’s residence to highlight the drug abuse.
He said that the matter was immediately brought into the notice of Gurvinder Singh Dhillon, IG (Ferozepur Range) who right away gave instructions to the police officials. “A team of policemen led by ASI Jasvir Singh reached village Khalchian. A trap was laid to nab the accused. Though, the main accused Billa was not available, the police with the help of our volunteers nabbed one of his accomplices along with his brother. The police also recovered cash of around 5-6 thousand and an electric measuring machine from them”, said Bhullar.
As per the information available, both the accused were arrested and were sent to CI wing.
Gurinder Singh Dhillon, IG Ferozepur said any information to nab peddlers was welcome. I a happy that people are coing forward to this fight.
