Tree Plantation Drive in SOS Children’s Village, Rajpura under Mission “Healthy Punjab”

Ferozepur, July 11, 2018: With an ultimate aim to ‘Save Environment’ and purify the air, water, surroundings for healthy Punjab, a tree plantation drive was organized in SOS Children’s Village, Rajpura. This initiative was supported by International Naturopathy Organization and Gyan Jyoti Educational Society, Patiala by providing various kinds of trees of medicinal and environmental values.

A team comprising various eminent people such as Dr. Parmod Kumar (Ex. District Education Officer), Shri Om Prakash (Ex MC), Ishwar Dev Wadhwa, Yashpal Manavi, Upkar Singh, Gundeep Singh and Dilpreet Singh visited the SOS Village and planted the tree with SOS representatives. The team also praised the work of SOS India to provide quality life support to children.

The SOS CHILDREN’S VILLAGES OF INDIA is a non-government non-profit, voluntary child care organization that was established in 1964 and has since been involved in providing orphaned and distressed children a ‘home-like’ environment with a loving mother, brothers and sisters, as well as a home and a village through 32 Children’s Villages across India. Every children's village has 12-15 family homes, with every home consisting of 8-10 children on an average along with an SOS mother. A holistic development including education, nutrition, health and psychological development is taken care of till the children are settled in their lives. SOS Children’s Village Rajpura became operational in 1996. Presently, the total number of children of different age groups living under our care in Rajpura is over 181.
