Ferozepur, January 31, 2025: An unfortunate and tragic collison between a canter and Mahindra pickup this morning near village Mohan Ke Hithar on Ferozepur-Fazilka road under district Ferozepur has claimed 11 lives. Receiving the information, the district administration immediately rushed the victims to the hospital for treatment.
Expressing grief over this unfortunate incident, MLA Guruharsahai S. Fauja Singh Sarari said that Punjab government standing firmly with the families of the deceased and the injured during these tough times. He informed that Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led government will provide financial assistance of Rs.2 lakh each to the families of those who died in this tragic accident and will ensure complete treatment of the injured patients.
MLA S. Fauja Singh Sarari and Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Deepshikha Sharma also visited the Civil Hospital Ferozepur to enquire about the health of the injured and assured that the state government would provide full treatment to them.
Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Deepshikha Sharma informed that 10 injured are under treatment at Medical College Faridkot, four at Civil Hospital Ferozepur and one injured at Baghi Hospital Ferozepur. She said that post-mortem of the deceased is being conducted at Civil Hospital Ferozepur, adding that after completing all necessary procedures including post-mortem, the bodies will be handed over to the relatives. “The district administration is continuously monitoring the situation and oficers have been assigned duties for any kind of emergency”, she added.
Notably, this morning the pickup vehicle, carrying the waiters to a wedding ceremony, collided with the Canter. Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann has also expressed grief over this tragic accident. He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls and speedy recovery of the injured.
