Lab Attendants without wages since April 2015
Ferozepur, November 7, 2015: Teacher is the class which produces every class and it is unfortunate that 93 Lab Attendants – a part of the education system – in Punjab have not been paid wages for the last nine months since April 2015 onwards.
There are 276 schools under Rashitriya Madhyama Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) in the state. Earlier 149 posts of Lab Attendants were sanctioned in these schools and the schools which were brought under RMSA later on, the post of LAs have not been sanctioned.
In fact, it is a centre sponsored scheme in which the Punjab Government has to share certain matching amount for payment of wages to the staff under RMSA.
Speaking to this correspondent, Sandeep Kamboj, Lab Attendant presently posted at Govt. High School Pindi near Ferozepur said, he has not been paid wages since April 2015 onwards.
He further said, it becomes difficult for the single earning hand if the wages for months together are not released. The government must plan its budget well before the start of the financial year to pay regular wages not only to LAs but to all the categories so that teachers which produce all classes concentrate with fully dedication and devotion on studies of the students.
When contacted the Treasury Department, on anonymity said, the government is short of revenue for release of wages and various other bills which are lying pending with treasury. Only on clearance or receipt of sufficient funds, the pending bills irrespective of any nature will be cleared.
