Suspended Ferozepur DSP’s remanded extended till 25th Dec, sent to Amritsar Jail
Ferozepur, December 22, 2023: The Ferozepur’s suspended DSP, Surinder Bansal arrested on corruption charge was extended till December 25 by a local court on Friday. He was suspended on December 15.
During the investigation, it was reportedly unearthed that in 2023, about Rs.1 crore, excluding the salary was deposited in the bank accounts of Bansal, his wife, two daughters, and alleged agent Gurmej and police have also recovered audio recordings allegedly of conversation between Bansal and a private person to collect from various persons, said sources. Bansal along with Gurmej was charged under Sections 7 and 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Randhir Kumar, SP(D) informed that the matter is still under investigation. However, the DSP is being sent to Amritsar jail as there is no separate jail barrack for accused police cops and it is only at Patiala and Amritsar.
