Stubble-burning : Janjua reviews curbing arrangements in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, October 21, 2019:  Today, V.K.Janjua, Principal Secretary Labour had a special meeting with the officers in Ferozepur to review the work done so far by various departments to prevent the stubble burning with better coordination and monitoring the activities related to curbing stubble-burning in fields during the Kharif season to ensure clean, green and pollution-free environment.

Janjua asked the officers to take strict action on stubble burning besides creating awareness about the availability of subsidy on equipments.

Deputy Commissioner Chandra Gaind and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Ravinderpal Singh Sandhu were also present on the occasion.

During the meeting, VK Janju IAS received detailed information from the nodal officer appointed in the district for control of stubble burning and asked about as to what action is taken in the event of noticing a stubble burning case.

He directed Rajpal Singh, Pollution Control Board official to take legal action immediately in such cases. He also directed the Agriculture Officer to make the farmers aware about the subsidy provided by the government so that the farmers could use these tools to make proper arrangements for their disposal instead of setting fire to the straw.

 

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Chandra Gaind said that officers of various departments have been deputed to prevent stubble burning in the fields and take immediate action on getting information of burning from the satellite. He also brought to the notice that awareness camps are also being organized from time to time. 

On this occasion, various departments including SDM Zira, Ranjit Singh, SDM Guruharsahai Kuldeep Bawa, Chief Agriculture Officer Gurmel Singh, SDO Pollution Control Rajpal Gill, were also present.
