Streamline Welfare Society celebrates Diwali at Old Age Home

Old Age Home is a blot on society but it is in need of time: Harish Goyal

Ferozepur, November 12, 2020: Streamline Welfare Society – SWS, today celebrated Diwali with the old persons residing at Old Age Home, Ferozepur Cantt.

Old Age Home Ferozepur Cantt situated in Ram Bagh – a peaceful place, is presently housing 23 persons – 15 females and 4 couples. It has 23 rooms with an attached kitchen and washroom besides a common room for ‘Bhajan Sandhya’ and a big lawn in the center.

Diwan Chand Sukhija, President, SWS said, We along with members are visiting the Old Age Home for the last few years on different occasions and it has become our regular project.

This old age home was the concept of Bhagat Ji – running sweet shop and presently being run by a Trust headed by Harish Goyal, from its own sources and voluntary donations from the public.

All the residents at Old Age Home are feeling comfortable who are from different stations and classes.

Harish Goyal said we prepared a plan for the construction of a dormitory on the first floor to accommodate 20 male persons who have been discarded by their families.  A proposal to this effect has been sent to the government and hope to get a nod shortly.

He said, we are running the Home comfortably with the required infrastructure and required amenities to feel at home besides a regular visit to dedicated doctors from time to time or an emergent basis also.

Sharing the tales of the persons residing, he said, each one has his own family story.  In fact, the moral values among the child are lacking and hardly son of anyone comes to see them.  I have seen married daughters of few families do come to meet their mother or parents.

The coming time looks to be more difficult, rued Harish adding there is a need to start the moral education to the children from the very first class rather it should be a regular feature subject.

He said, no doubt old age home is a blot on society but it is the need of the hour in view of the declining moral values among the children.
