Stray animals rule railway tracks, install catchers at entry points

Ferozepur, January 21,2020: The presence of stray animals on the busy thoroughfares, roads are posing a threat to the vehicle users and pedestrians alike but now on the railway track is posing hazards to running of trains.

The problem of stray animals is most acutely felt around the vegetable markets and streets in its vicinity which remains the favoured haunt of the cattle to feed on the lush vegetables waste dumped all around the market.

These animals roam around on the roads they thrive on the waste disposed of the eateries functioning near bus stand and on rail tracks also.  In the absence of grazing areas because of conversion of agriculture fields into residential areas, the stray animals are seen roaming in public places.

Not only this, the stray animals have become risky for passengers at the railway station as they are seen roaming on the tracks, platform, and ticket vending areas. There had been a number of chances of an attack on the kids.

The railway officials said, there is the number of open entries to the railway station and animals can enter from any point.

The social activists say that the cattle are reared mostly in a handful of areas and the owners let out the animals after milking them and hardly any action is taken against them. the railway authorities should arrange catchers at the entry point to restrict the entry of animals as they are prone to anyone irrespective of age.
