State-wide CASO Operation cracks down on street crime in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, October 9, 2024: In a major state-wide operation against street crime, the Punjab Police carried out a Coordinated Area Search Operation (CASO) under the leadership of ADG Modernization B. Chandra Sekhar, IPS. The operation, led in Ferozepur by SSP Saumya Mishra, IPS, targeted known crime hotspots and prioritised public safety.
The recoveries during this large-scale operation reflect a robust effort by the Punjab Police to curb crime, enhance public safety, and bring habitual offenders to justice.
Key components of the operation included a sweep of five street crime hotspots and stringent checks at religious sites, the local bus stand, and the railway station. PCR motorcycles were deployed to counter illegal two-wheeler use, and officers established checkpoints across the district, focusing on inter-district borders and busy markets.
The CASO resulted in significant enforcement action – registration of 13 FIRs with the arrest of 16 persons, along with recovery of 1.540 kg heroin, 3 pistols and 20 rounds as illegal weapons, 4150 ml and 133 lt (177.5. bottles) of ‘desi’ liquor. In the additional actions, 48 challans were issued for violation of traffic besides the bounding of 25 vehicles.
