Ferozepur, August 15 – Punjab Revenue Minister Mr. Gurpreet Singh Kangar said that the state government led by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh is committed for making debt and drug-free state. Taking steps to achieve these goals a whopping amount of Rs. 4700 Crore as debt has been waived of benefitting around 5.62 small and marginal farmers, adding that he revealed that in next phase crop loan of 1.50 Lakh farmers amounting to Rs. 1600 Crore will be waived off by the government.
Mr. Kangar who unfurled national flag during a district-level function to commemorate 73rd Independence Day at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium said that the steps taken by the current government in past around two years have started showing encouraging results.
Addressing the mammoth gathering on the auspicious occasion, the Revenue Minister said that state government has brought debt-waiver scheme and fulfilled its promise besides cracking down on drug menace by setting up Special Task Force (STF) in the state to wipe out this menace from Punjab.
Mr. Kangar said that around 33,000 drug paddlers have been arrested by the police during the war on drugs besides taking stern action against the gangsters to bring back law and order situation on the track.
Fulfilling its promise to provide employment to the youth of the state, the government has launched Ghar Ghar Rojgar Yojna, which has yielded tremendous results in the state as fifth Rojgar Mela is soon going to be started, in which around 2 Lakh youth will be benefited and financial aid to one Lakh applicants to be provided help for self-employment scheme, said the revenue minister. He said that more than 5800 applicants have been benefited under this scheme in the Ferozepur District.
Throwing light on efforts being made to preserve the environment to mark the 550th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the minister said that 550 plants will be planted in each village under this drive as a part of which more than 75,000 saplings have been planted in the 136 villages of Ferozepur district.
Meanwhile the revenue minister handed offer the job offer letters to ten youths under Ghar Ghar Rojgar Yojna along with letters for financial aid to five aspirant youngsters for setting up their own business. Various government departments presented tableaus, which showcased the pro-people schemes of the Punjab Government such as Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna, Jal Shakti Abhiyan, Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Vikas Yojna, Ghar Ghar Rojgar Yojna, Beti Bachao Beti Bachao, Free Legal Aid and Lok Adalat ect.
Earlier the minister visited Hussainiwala, the martyrdom place of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev and laid a wreath to pay his obeisance to the martyrs. Meanwhile, Chief Guest took a salute during an impressive march past accompanied by deputy commissioner Mr. Chander Gaind and SSP Mr. Vivek S. Soni. Mr. Kangar also honored the family members of martyrs of Kargil War, family members of freedom fighters besides felicitating around 200 personalities for their remarkable contribution towards society.
Prominent among others MLA Satkar Kaur, Divisional Commissioner Mr. Sumer Gurjar, District and Session Judge Mr. Parminder pal Singh, General (Retd) S.S. Chauchan chief of guardian of governance scheme, IG Ferozepur Range Mr. M.S. Cheema and Additional deputy commissioner Mr. Ravinder Singh, Mr. Ravinder pal singh Sandhu were present on the occasion.
